Breakins - Saturday Evening 20th July 2013

We are sad to report that plotholders on the Hagg Lane site have again suffered further breakins with allotment doors and sheds broken into. Nothing so far has been reported to us as stolen, it seems to be an act of mindless vandalism. Plot numbers 28,29,30,32,33,34,40,41,43,44,45,46 & 167,170&171 appear to be have been targeted in some capacity but there may be more.

We must stand together and report any damage to the police 101 incident number and obtain a crime reference number.

Would you like to borrow a rotavator?

"I’d be very happy to loan you our old Howard 350 rotavator. It is a powerful (8hp petrol) machine with a 2 foot cutting width. It’s self-propelled and is good at digging long, straight lines – breaking up new ground, turning over soil, digging in green manures etc. Use is free (although a donation of some fresh veg come autumn would be welcome!), but you will need a little unleaded petrol and strong boots or shoes to wear. Instructions will be given and, if you follow these, the rotavator is easy and safe for adults to operate, although of course you will use it at your own risk. I can drop off at Hagg Lane"

If you’d like to borrow this please e-mail the above address and we will pass you Chris Stebbing's personal contact details on.

No tools or money are stored on site EVER.

X-Reg Orange Ford Transit (like an old RAC van)

On Thursday 14th Feb three young men were seen on Hagg Lane Allotments at 6.05am. They had arrived in the above van and climbed over the gates and on to site in the dark. When spoken to by an allotment holder they said they were looking for a Jack Russell dog and then made a quick exit. We have the full registration number.

This is a timely reminder for us all not to leave items of value on plots and to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the police on the 101 incident number. When reporting theft or criminal damage please ensure you obtain a crime reference number.
